	Album review: Lightfoot's commercial peak came with this album, which topped the US charts, containing both the #1 title song and the Top 10 hit "Carefree Highway." 	Notes: Released in the winter of 1974, Sundown ranks among Gordon Lightgoot's most popular albums, featuring the evocative number one hit "Sundown." His tenth long player, Sundown, captures the mix of folk and pop music stylings that has made Lightfoot an influential singer and songwriter. Born in Orillio, Ontario, LIghtfoot came to Los Angeles in the late 50s to pursue a career in music. Originally a piano player he switched to guitar and began to make a name for himself on the Toronto music scene in the early 60s. He worked closeley with a number of folk performers including Pete Seeger and Ian & Sylvia. Peter, Paul & Mary landed a Top 40 hit with Lightfoot's "For Lovin' Me" in 1965. From 1966 to 1969 he recorded a string of albums for Liberty Records. He signed to Reprise Records in 1971 and immediately scored a hit with the album and single "If You Could Read My Mind". Two more albums, Summer Side of Life and Don Quixote followed. Sundown, produced by Lenny Waronker, features 10 Lightfoot originals. The title track, released as a single in March, was an immediate hit. A second single from the album, "Carefree Highway" was also a Top 10 hit.
