Lightfoot memorabilia offered at estate sale
Frank Matys: Orillia Today
History buffs and Lightfoot fans alike may be interested to discover a unique auction scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6 in Orillia.
The estate of the late Jessie Lightfoot, mother of Bev Eyers and Gordon Lightfoot, will be auctioned at the home located at 283 Harvey St.
Krista Richards, auction administrator for A Touch of Class Auction and Appraisal Service, expects a good turnout for the day, particularly because of the hometown interest in Lightfoot collectibles.
"There is lots of memorabilia in the estate," Richards said. "Things that say Gordie Lightfoot on them. There are a lot of people who collect Orillia memorabilia, especially if it's his." Included for auction are antiques, collectibles and household items, said Richards.
It is not yet known whether or not Gordon Lightfoot will be attending.
"We don't know if he's going to be there or not, but we certainly had to arrange the sale around his schedule," she added. "It's pretty exciting for us."
A preview of items for auction begins at 10 a.m., with a sale time beginning one hour later. At 1 p.m., the house is to be auctioned off. Cash, Visa, MasterCard and Interac/Debit are accepted.
Those interested can call 705-726-2120 to receive a fax of the listing.
