I don't know about the picking on HHTD. I guess it just sounded boring to my ears if I just strummed it. I sat down one Sunday morning, about 5 years ago, and worked up the finger picked arrangement, and it very quickly became one of my favorite songs to play.
I used the old, beat up Martin D-15 on that recording. It still sounds great, in spite of the fact that me and the guitar was thrown off a parade float years ago, and it put an 18 inch crack in the bottom side. I repaired it myself, and the crack didn't bother the tone of the guitar at all. |
