Char, you don't know who the red hot chili peppers are?

" and I don't want to feel the way I felt that day, take me to the place I love, take me all the way..."
ring any bells?

charlene 09-24-2004 06:10 AM

i think I've made it clear that I have no idea who/what they are!
lol
I avoid MTV and other music stations on TV as much as possible and don't listen to the radio.....haven't for years.... can't stand the yattering by the on-air "Talent"...along with the lack of any music I really care to listen to.
lol

heh heh, way to go, guys http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif this should definitely be under small talk (speaking of small, would the California Raisins, count? lol) but what the heck, not the first thread that's wondered aimlessly http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

i think there's a group called the Cranberries

oh, i know that former-male-teen-wet-dream-queen Maureen McCormick has recorded some tunes, but i'm sure a certain about Eve Plum? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

stationmaster 09-26-2004 02:23 PM

Here is Carrot Top with Brooks and Dunn.
Could he be the next vegetable singer?
http://www.carrottop.com/newcarrot/p...s/stars/14.jpg

jj 09-27-2004 08:10 AM

good one, SM http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif ...the last vegetable singer i saw was Dylan...he didn't say a word to the crowd all night (dismal night at Massey)

oh, there were groups called Bronski Beet and the English Beet http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

joveski 09-27-2004 03:08 PM

> the last vegetable singer i saw was Dylan...he didn't say a word to the crowd all night

when was this show??

jj 09-27-2004 03:47 PM

don't want to get off topic (lol) but it was summer of '92, centre balcony seats, was ready to jump by the end of the evening...it was called the Never Ending Tour (substitute 'Night')

stationmaster 09-27-2004 10:36 PM

Since we are on a vegetable tangent,
lets not forget KORN...
http://www.kornkids.com/firstimages/fikorn.jpg

jj 09-28-2004 11:19 AM

and a fruit tangeant too http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

hey, good work, SM...yeah, i remember the lead singer, the one with the husky voice http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif

i think the well is running dry...hmmm, i dunno if Peaches & Herb count but Tangerine Dream must?

also lots of good band names within GL tunes...Wild Strawberries, etc...hmm, wonder if the Strawbs would qualify http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

Auburn Annie 09-28-2004 12:18 PM

And for all you oldies out there - and you know who you are - there's "The 1910 Fruit Gum Company" - 1,2,3,Red Light; Simple Simon??

bjb 09-28-2004 01:02 PM

Would "Uncle Cracker" count?

I love the ironic "Follow Me" song

...
when i'm with you
i make you free
and swim through your veins
like the fishes in the sea
...

joveski 09-28-2004 03:13 PM

ok.. that explains it.. those mid 92 dylan shows were pretty patchy!

Station Master 09-28-2004 04:18 PM

joveski, i'm known for my bad timing...oh well

i've never heard of that Fruit Gum group, aa...i thought i was kinda oldtimer or would have atleast known them from leafing thru my older bor and sis's albums/33s/45s (was it on 78? lol)

bb, have you extended the fruit and veggies music groups now to ALL foods??? lol...hey, how about Grapes of Wrath...they still around?

Funny you should mention the Strawbs. I had never heard of them until we booked them (at least the acoustic trio part of them) to play for our concert series in November. My understanding is that one of the original founders is still leading the pack. I've gone from never hearing of them before, to reading their name all over the place http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

LSH 09-29-2004 04:41 PM

Strawberry Alarm Clock, they count?

Auburn Annie 09-29-2004 07:04 PM

Yes! "Incense and Peppermint" cue flashback strobe

jj 09-30-2004 11:03 AM

hey, are you guys making these up? lol... this has kinda turned into a quiz, eh (so i knew lsh would add to the fun and eventually turnip http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif)

speaking of real or not band names (for more fun): http://ideaexplore.net/ron/bands/index2.php

janice, yeah, i was going to go see them 2 years ago at Hugh's Room (same place as GL Tribute) but David Cousins was still recovering from a spill...i think you've made a great booking, goodluck! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif i'm a longtime fan but they're not everyone's cup of tea ...or bowl of cherries
