I hope to get a chance to meet you both and any of the other Corfid folks at the show at the Casino. I have the good fortune of working about an hour north of there that day. I am glad I am able to go to that show. I have not seen Gord since Toronto in 06. Have a great weekend. Bill Hall |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
Sounds great, Bill! We'll all make arrangements to meet up as the time gets closer. :)

Okay Bill and Vickie...You're on!
Next time I'm down that way, I'll check it all out and come up with a place to meet before the concert. The auditorium is new and I'm not exactly sure where it's situated at the casino. Plus any time I've been to the casino area, I get all turned around! I'll familiarize myself with it so I know exactly where I am :) Bill, where are you working that day? Kathy |

That's nice town...especially if you're on vacation.
Are you playing music there?(I peeked at your website!) |

oh and I fell in love with Traverse City and up the peninsula when I visited there last Fall! It had that 'vintage' touristy-feel to it and I thought it was just charming! And nice photo Vickie! Pam |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
Hi Vickie and Bill!
We're 32 hours away from the Manistee concert ! However, I never got back to the casino to find a meeting spot. I have a picture of you, Vickie...I'm sorry to say that I don't have a recent pic of me that looks like I think I look, so I haven't posted one(I take a lousy photo). So I think it will be up to me to find you. I'll check around by the entrance to the concert hall. Other wise, my husband and I will be in row G (on the right side of the stage) in the aisle seats. Bill, where are you going to be sitting? The concert is SOLD OUT! I'm getting very excited!!! See you there! Kathy |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
Hi Kathy! I dropped both you and Bill a message with my seat information - looking forward to meeting up with you. :) It was great to log onto the casino web site and see that the concert has sold out!

HI Cathy and Vickie,
I Actually don't know where I am sitting :). I am going to the show with a guy I work with and he got the tickets a while ago. I will definately look for you both either before the show or at intermission. I am not sure when exactly I will get there. Bill |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
Kathy, I'm so sorry Bill and I didn't find you - we had planned to hunt you down during intermission. But, as you know, there was no intermission. Bill, thanks for letting me hang out with you and your buddy; I had a lot of fun. :) We had some interesting moments, eh? LOL

HI Vickie! Have a great time at the concert tonight! It was great to meet you at the show last night and hang out. I had a great time!! We sure had a lot of laughs, did'nt we! :) Kathy I second what Vickie said. We were all surprised ther was no intermission. Hopefully we can all get to meet again! The show was great and Gord did 21 songs without a break. He may 70 but he sure has a lot of energy. These are the songs: Not in the right order: Cotten Jenney Never to close early morning rain ribbon of darkness If you could read my mind don Q Beautiful Hang Dog If Children had wings In my Fashion triangle 14 karat Gold Sea of Tranquility Shadows Baby Step Back A painter passing through The wreck Old dan's records Rainy Day People Sundown The Watchman's gone |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
Row E, Stage Left...it was great to see Gord again. He played one long set, his usual two dozen or so songs. Took about the first half dozen songs or so for him to loosen up the vocal strings and it is somewhat painful to realize that he can no longer hit a lot of the higher notes and occasionally the voice cuts out. Nevertheless, another great performance from the old master. He gives it his all and, at nearly 70, what more can we ask for? Looking about the arena it was also painfully obvious to realize that the core audience has aged along with Gord and the band. At 53 and 52, my wife and I felt like we were two of the more youthful in the crowd. Set list was very similar to the sets he used earlier this year in Florida. Opened with 14 Karat Gold and wrapped with a double encore, concluding on Old Dan's Records. All in all, a truly enjoyable way to spend the evening. The casino hotel was reasonable and the pre-concert meal we enjoyed in one of their restaurants was pleasant and, with coupons off the internet site, quite a bargain. Didn't catch his name but there was a quite talented young man singing and accompanying himself on guitar throughout our meal, playing a pleasant mix of 60s to current tunes.
To answer some of the earlier posts...Gord typically doesn't do an intermission when playing casino venues. I think he fears losing people during the break to the gaming rooms and then its hard to bring them back in without disrupting the entire audience and "flow" of the second half. |

Yeah we saw that kid too...He was good Bill |
Re: More good news for Michigonians/ Mitchies (anyone over there in MI)
I asked Rick last night about the different format used for casino shows. The format isn't Gord's choice. Apparently, the casinos specifically contract the performances for a more limited time period, fearing a longer performance will lose them too much money in the casino. Go figure! LOL
