i realized i do like one of the re-makes on GG… Minstrel of the Dawn…then i realize that wasn't Lee's orchestral work on the UA stuff… MOD was was DeCaro:clap:

Actually Randy Newman gets the credit for string arrangement on MOD.

it's really great to hear from you, RM …and thanks for the clarification!

so RN only did work on that and Approaching Lavender it seems…nice stuff

I have been trying to sort this GG comp through, as I don't own it but did so

So all UA tracks were re-done with orch by Lee… that's 9 tracks… then all others are just lifted from actual original Warner album releases, no remakes?

and then there is something about Affair on 8th Ave being included on LP only (was that a remake also?

i should really google more about RN, especially as an arranger …thanks, Ron

SIT DOWN YOUNG STRANGER
(IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND)
Produced by Joe Wissert and Lenny Waronker (which did which tracks?)
Engineered by Lee Herschberg and Gary Brandt
Mixed by Lee Herschberg
String arrangements by Randy Newman and Nick DeCaro.

Re: Lee Holdridge

i think i've got it now:

Gord's Gold:
9 UA tracks re-arranged/re-recorded (Affair on 8th Ave too, but excluded from CD version)
all others are original WB recordings

Gord's Gold 2:
all are re-recorded off the studio floor
except for Make Way for the Lady, It's Worth Believin, Ghosts of Cape Horn, Baby Step Back which are original recordings

(aside: I like the more laid back tempo and new key for High & Dry …but wow, lots of reverb)
