To who ever was looking for the 78 or 79 PBS Soundstage tape from Chicago try ebay. You can get either VHS or DVD but the quality is not stunning. For a hard core Lightfoot fan they are fun to have.

Very nice review. I believe the Edmund Fitzgerald sank on Lake Superior which would be fresh water.

Great review, thanks. I have tickets for September in the Bay Area, then am planning a girls road trip to Reno that weekend to see him again. Now I'm getting excited.

emjayek, will you be going to Montalvo or San Francisco, or both?
I'll be at both. It would be nice to meet up.

LOL -- you got me there, Bird-dog.... my excuse is that I'm a Los Angeles native -- and I didn't know the difference, so thanks! I'm still a tad embarrassed!!!

I mostly agree with ddd. Mind you the last time I tried to interpret something similar I accidentally ordered the low calorie chickens feet in Peking sauce. (More commonly known in Corfid as the "Lightfeet" ) ...

Henceforth I prefer to be known as "Low Pun".....

johnfowles 06-30-2005 08:39 AM

Briliant response Steve. You should have ordered number 110 Sydney Mai Fun instead. had you ordered 112 you'd have made a real pig's ear of the interpretation

Just my take-away on the problem you understand

I saw Gordon in Reading, Pa. on the 19th...having been a pro musician for 40 years, I have to say I have never seen a more well rehearsed band in my life!...of course I was there to see the man, Gordon...I have been a fan of his for the last 30 years but could never get to a venue because of traveling time...i live in Baltimore, Md and a 240 mile trip was all I had time for because of my job...I promised myself I wouldn't cry, but guess what?!..not only did I cry when Gordon came on, but my 33 year old Son cried also, because I introduced him to Gordon's music years ago...I;m an old hippie by heart, and Gordon;s music, as calm and relaxing as it is in todays world, is often overlooked by the un introduced..it is sad so many people don't know of Gordon's music just because they are so young...what they are missing is an artist passing through, a person who can explain all of life's mysteries in just a 3 minute song...I am going to be at one of Gordon's final concerts in the United States in Oct. in Atlantic City... I am taking my oldest Son, who is also a musician, and can't wait to see him as I can't...Gordon Lightfoot is truly a gift from God, and I thank Him for it...when you retire this December Gordon to be with your family, do it with the blessings of all of your fans around the world...it is a retirement well deserved, but make no mistake...YOU have made this troubled world a better place to live with your music...I for one will be forever grateful...thank you...Ed Leicht, Baltimore, Maryland

Gord's not retiring in December! - He's not said word one about retiring...He's got plans for Massey in November 2006 and I'm sure another schedule full of shows until then.

Hey it's me jaws...just wanted to let Gordon know that his music has brought me many years of great memories(some good some bad).I'm 31yrs old i have been listening to him for 17yrs.Acouple of years ago i saw him at The Keswick in Glenside,Pa and i was sitting 11th row from the stage and when he came out to do his encore of Old Dan's Records i ran to the stage and yelled "GORDON" and when he came out he wlaked over to me and shook my hand.Let me just tell you that was the greatest day of my life(and i was married once for 3yrs.).When his cd came out "A Painter Passing Thru" the album name hit me like a ton of bricks. That's exactly what he is.He paints pictures in my mind with his words.I'm hoping to see him in AC so i hope to see alot of you "GORD" fans there!!!!

Sorry Jaws not us although we will be at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ we declined the chance to see the Atlantic City show as three days in April in a smokey casino in Las Vegas was more than sufficient!!
John Fowles
And through the smoke and cinders
It’s been a busy day And a tiny wisp of
smoke is a-risin’ Oh lord, she groans, I’m burning
The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead My glass is almost empty

I am going to see Gordon at the Tulalip Ampatheater on Aug 20th near Seattle Washington. After reading Sheryl's reveiw I am more pumped than ever. I just turned 40 and have been a big fan of his since High School. They just don't make music like his and so many other artist of the late 60's and 70's anymore. It is generational and my mother and uncle are also going with me. I can't wait! I just sang "Sundown" at a bar doing Karokie this Friday and from the reaction of the crowd I must have nailed it!
