happy birthday gaby - with many more to come!

djb 10-25-2004 03:25 PM

To Gaby: Happy Birthday, and rock on, baby!!!

To SH: All the photos in this thread are great!

This reminds of sommat I've been wondering for awhile. In some of the Gord photos of the 70s, he looks much broader in the shoulders and arms than he does today. Has he lost weight over the years, or were the 70s pics touched up to give him a sex appeal suited to the times?

He's lost weight; he was at his heaviest just before he stopped drinking in the early 80s. Having seen him in person in 1974 I can say he needed no touching up - the sexiness is the real deal.

Oh! Sarcasm! I love it http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif
Don’t worry! The Ace, Beta and calcium blockers are doing their best to slow me down. I’m fighting back, ‘tho! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mende, thanks for the birthday wishes!! It’s when I realise I’m old enough to be your Mum, that I really know I’m growing old. Sad…………

I’ve been keeping really quiet about it, Char.
The little darling will call me Gaby. I am NOT going to be Granny!
Actually, I told Bru about two months ago (I thought she would die, laughing.)
Granny?………omg.

Auburn Annie 10-26-2004 02:27 PM

How about Grandmama? Gran'mere?

Gaby 10-26-2004 03:12 PM

Annie – I rather like Gran’mere.
I used to call my great grandmother, Grandmama – so, I think I’ll give that one a miss! She was the spit of Queen Victoria – a tiny little tub in black and lace.
I occasionally wear black and lace – but I’m sure she wouldn’t approve! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
We should start a thread on the basis of “separated by six handshakes”. (Do you call it Kevin Bacon?) That could be quite fun!

I had a very good friend (back in my Toronto days) who became a granddad at age 35 or 36! He started young, at 18 or 19, and then later on his 17 year old daughter followed suit.
