Love it, ZR!

Ginny 04-02-2006 12:45 PM

Yea, me too ZR. This is pretty cool. It gave me a flashback to last year when around this time I was planning my driving escapade from Vancouver to attend the May concerts in Toronto The drive through that part of North Ontario, along the shores of lake Superior was beautiful. For miles you could look out and see the lake and the memory of the Edmund Fitzgerald became quite vivid. I remember passing the "Git-che Gu-mee" restaurant. Should have stopped in there for a meal. Some day I'm gonna do that! RJ.

Ranger, it is beautiful! What an imagination, fabulous!

Cathy 04-02-2006 07:19 PM

I remember when three of us drove to Toronto a few years ago. We started down an incline towards the St. Lawrence Seaway and we spotted a huge freighter. It reminded me so much of the Fitz.

Then, on the way home, we missed the turn off completely and didn't notice it until we saw signs for the Restigouche area. I kept telling the driver that we'd missed the turn off, and she kept saying, "Oh, I remember this part of the road. We're okay." Then Gord came across the CD player, singing, "Turn around, go back down, back the way you came..." We knew that was a sign. We turned around and managed to find the road into Maine.

Ginny 04-03-2006 06:57 PM

Cathy, that was so cool. It brought a laugh and a tear at the same time. The moment was right for the read. How could you find anything as good to turn the day into "Fourteen Carat Gold?" RJ.

Cathy 04-03-2006 07:13 PM

Now, that would have been quite a treasure. Maybe I should reconsider which song I listen to when we go on these Lightfoot excursions.

The trip to Toronto only took a little over 12 hours. The lady drove like a bat out of H*ll. The trip back, because of our little 'detour' took more than 14 hours. I think if we'd have gone another 50 miles, we'd have seen the Atlantic.

Very cool Zone, and tasteful way to keep this tragic event in our memory; and honour Gl's song masterpiece as well. Grand Slam ! - Steve

I think this just may be your best yet, zoneranger. :)

My God, that album cover is haunting,,,I live in Michigan, have been to the northernmost reaches of our state, bordering our wonderful neighbor, Canada, and I have been on Superior when its waves were holding my attention at bay...this album cover captures the power of this lake, and the incredible talent onboard the Fitz that was wasted that night...I shall never forget it, as a young man working my first year in an auto plant, hearing the loss of our brethren, men that followed both my grandfathers on the steel ships in the early 1900's. It hit home, to say the least. THank you for making my soul come to life once again.

thats pretty good. However, (not that I'm complaining), I would have liked it if the ship itself were in the picture. ;)

James ... I KNOW you are from Georgia!

Hi Gordo Lovers!
does anybody know when Gordon's touring schedule will be out for 2008, unless, being as busy as I am, I just haven't seen it?
My email is "cobratorque@yahoo.com" is you could send me a heads-up.
thanks
Dale Lardie

the short answer is Yes and No!
I am trusting that you are not too busy to check for any replies here, having got the ball rolling so to speak
(hopefully you signed on to receive replies to threads which you are "subscribed" to in which case this reply will appear automatically in your email inbox)
if you look at the three main information sites
  1. http://www.lightfoot.ca/2008.htm
  2. http://www.gordonlightfoot.com
  3. http://www.corfid.com
( number three will link you to number1)
    and a potential fourth
  4. http://www.gordon-lightfoot.net
although prominently entitled
"Gordon-Lightfoot [DOT] Net - Your #1 Source for Gordon Lightfoot on the Web"
has yet to live up to its promise having been originally started by Meredith Lightfoot several months ago
"Posted by Meredith on tuesday 24/07"

You can however see every concert that has been revealed to date on numbers 1 and 2
now totalling 49. Several times of late Gord has repeated his mantra that he now intends to do 55 concerts a year so the shed-yule is now pretty well filled up, although there are a few obvious free dates (excluding any Fridays on the 13th of course). You did not indicate exactly why you wanted to know and as you might well have noticed from other threads here you have just missed one Michigan concert (March 27 Manistee, MI Little River Casino) but there will be two more
come September. You are best advised to keep a close watch on Wayne's site (1 above) and Valerie's (2 above) plus
the two main ticket selling sites http://pollstar.com and http://www.ticketmaster.com
I note that you selected one of zoneranger's artwork threads to reply to
Unfortunately several of his uploaded artwork files are no longer available on his original site,
hence the mass of white squares with red crosses in this thread here so far
But having saved them I have archived a few on my own web site in particular the subject of this thread ( TWOTEF)
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk//LIGHTF...GER/TWOTEF.JPG
and here is a screenshot showing 18 of them
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk//LIGHTF...eranger_18.jpg
Note to RM.Yes Ron I know that this screenshot is on the large size but as you will have seen reducing it as corfid's forum does renders the individual file/song titles illegible.Sorry
