Hi everybody,
As some of you know, we had an incident in the old mirc chat room on Tuesday night. It seems some clown named Stimpy has registered the room, therefore taking away operator's privileges from the rest of us. He then comes in with three or four other guys and acts obnoxious, uses foul language, and interrupts the entire chat. So, I guess it's time we look at an alternative room. If they come in and fool around, we can just go to the other room and let them have their good time. Valerie has set up a chat room in Yahoo Clubs. We've tried it out a few times and it seems to work quite well. It also has a voice chat function, for those of us who have mics and would like to speak to each other. Anyone can go into the chat room at any time and use this function, but I think for our normal chats it would be a good idea not to use voice at first. There are a few chatters who don't have the set up to use voice. Another good thing about Yahoo Club chat is the ignore option. If someone comes in and starts acting obnoxious, just hit ignore and you won't see their messages. Anyway, if you'd like to join the club and have access to the chat room, e-mail me and I'll send you and invitation to join. When you join, it may ask you to install a voice chat plug in. Just click yes to the message and it will install in a matter of seconds. Here's the link to the new room if you'd like to go take a look: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/gordonlightfootchatroom For tonight, I guess we'll stay with the old room. This will give everyone a chance to check out the new room and do the membership thing. So, the chat starts at 9PM EDT at http://chat.gordonlightfoot.com Erica also has come up with another option. She is trying to set up a chat room through AOL/AIM. I'm still waiting to hear details on that. Thanks, Cathy |
