Does anyone know the name of the beautiful song at the end of the movie, "Harry Tracy, Desperato." It was sung by Gordon Lightfoot. Also, do you know what album I can find it on. I would like to order it.

"My Love For You" is the name of the song. Gord didn't write it. He performed it at the Canadian Genie Awards in 1983 I think.
It might be on Napster.

Les Pouliot wrote "My Love for You".

Am I to assume that since GL didn't write the song, it isn't included on any of his recordings. The movie is out of print, so even tho I don't run Napster, I guess I'd better look into it if I want a recording of that song.

No, don't assume that. We don't know why it was never on an album, but there are also plenty of other songs - originals and covers - that he recorded but didn't put on an album. Sixteen original songs were released for the first time in 1999 on the Rhino boxed set Songbook. That collection was limited to original songs, but many of his albums have had covers too. For example, his first UA album, released in 1966, had three covers and his most recent original album, A Painter Passing Through (Reprise, 1998), had two. It's a matter of choices.

Even though the video is out of print, you can probably still find a used copy. Many have been sold at Ebay. And the movie has been broadcast by the cable channel Encore - on at least two occasions during 2000. So you can watch for another broadcast.

Thanks for the info. I'll check ebay. I did see it on encore last weekend, and that's where I first heard the song. I had actually forgotten about Gordon Lightfoot since my quasi-hippie days in the past. I remember really liking him, so I thought I'll order a CD with that song on it. No dice. I thought artists had everything they've ever recorded of significance on an album somewhere. That's what I get for thinkin, eh?
