Did anybody heard a song Of Gordon starting with. Go forth with your... Go forth with your fears...
remember a place must be hidden.

And the house you live in will never fall down if you bid in the stranger that stands at your door..

I hear this song in 1975 and since then I couldn't find any trace of it. I am 80 to 90 % sure this is a Gordon's song. Any one can help me find it back ?

Thank you in advance

Gord,

You beat me to it. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif .....from 1976. The lyrics are on Valerie Magee's website, but I don't know if I'm allowed to list it here.

Aristote,
It begins:
"Go first in the world, go forth with your fears,
Remember a price must be paid.
Be always too soon, be never too fast
At the time when all bets must be laid.
Beware of the darkness, be kind to your children.
Remember the woman who waits.
And the house you live in will never fall down,
if you pity the stranger who stands at your gate.

Char,

You're right Val's site is wonderful!!! I go there alot. (Just didn't know if I could
list someone else's website)

Incidentally, have always loved this song, too, although it might not be played as much as some of the others.

The lyrics are also posted on this site as well for all GL's songs.

In May of 1998 Gord's mother Jessica passed away, and I was in attendance at Massey Hall, when he stopped after a few songs and became a little emotional when he mentioned his mother had been in attendance at Massey Hall for the last 30 years except for this year and he went on to say she was gravelly ill and that " The House You Live in" was his mother's favourite song.

That song was brought out of retirement and put back in rotation in the following couple of years as he also played that song here in Brantford in 1999.

Sadly Jessica passed away a couple of weeks after the May Massey Hall gig in May 1998.

I have that concert on CD-R. I wondered what was wrong with his mother when I heard it.
