Anyone get the same lump in your throat upon first viewing the photo of Gord on the back cover? The young Lightfoot walking away from you down the center of the railroad tracks - how symbolic for our aging hero! (I still won't buy it - those aren't MY greatest hits!)
Saw Gord in Concord, NH on April 11th - an excellent show! Took a couple of songs to get his voice going, but after that he sounded pretty good, especially right after the intermission. Certainly there were high notes that he had trouble on, but there were times when you could hear traces of the old Lightfoot. He was more talkative than I've heard in the past, and really seemed to be enjoying himself. The band was flawless as usual - make sure you don't miss him!

"As he stands on stage, there's a gleem in his eye.....spinning yarns thru his windowpane......of ships and windmills and railroad men, and the early mornin' rain"

In my opinion, he should warm up a little bit before he takes the stage, but an unwarmed Lightfoot is better than NO Lightfoot.

I loved the photo on the back of the new CD. And the one on the front.

It is so strange to go back and see him with the curls. His hair is so straight now...but the smile remains the same, no matter what.

A more fitting image? There isn't. I agree,Gord walkin' down the RR is symbolic to me of the song,"Steel Rail Blues",which of course was on his 1st LP. The front cover is still odd to me. He looks like he just went swimming in Biscayne Bay or such. Why not a front view of him walking down the RR? http://www.corfid.com/ubb/confused.gif Who knows? Been me,later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif
