I have received the message I will reproduce below in an email from Shirley Hoggard in Oklahoma:-
She is the keen fan who allegedly uprooted the Oillia signboard in 1996 or some such year
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/2.jpg
The original "Home of GL" signboard that we failed to find in Orillia November 1999
(Urban legend has it that Shirley smuggled it home then found that she had to move to a larger house with a high enough lounge wall to display it properly)
Hopefully she can now take a digital picture of it in situ then display the pic here.
Anyway her pertinent message reads:-
"John, I don't remember how to post on Corfid. Do you mind telling everyone on there that I heard from Erica after the hurricane and she is fine. She had damage to her home but all is well with her and her family"
I have replied with posting instructions noting that although she has registered here (as menmber 1120) she had never actually posted anything so she couldn't possibly "remember" anyway!!!
John Fowles
remember Me (I'm the one) who's sorry now
I remember when jealous lovers would stick together
I rememberit well And our fingers entwined like ribbons of light
The gales of November remembered

Thanks for passing that message on, John, it is good to know that Erika and family are okay.

Thanks for adding that further example of
"remember" in a "gord" song
It did not feature in google search results for "lightfoot lyrics remember" as it was of coarse Shel Silverstein who wrote "On Sharron's Floor"

Hey, that'd be "On SUSAN'S Floor", John...although, I have had many a friend and/or musician spend a few nights on my floor at one time or another through the years...which is why I love the song I guess.

On the other hand...
She said i can't sing now I forgot the words and my voice is almost gone
In times best forgot there was peace there was not
In her pains mother earth came to bloom
Knows they will not be forgot Trains and planes and rented cars
