Live in Reno was only relseased on DVD and VHS. It was never just released on CD. Nothing from Massey Hall was ever released.

I have Live in Reno on CD it's my own digital copy that I made when it was on PBS quite some time ago. Computers are great inventions sometimes. If some performer is on TV and hasn't bothered putting out a live CD before I'll just sit here for 3 hours and record the music on the fly.

The Massey Hall item may be Gord's live album, "Sunday Concert" recorded in 1969. Here's the description:
Album review: Recorded at a March 1969 concert in Toronto, this holds more interest than the usual live album because about half of the songs are Lightfoot compositions that had not been previously recorded in the studio. Accompanied by Red Shea on lead guitar and Rick Haynes on bass, he also mixed old favorites like "I'm Not Sayin'" and "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" with the new material on this set, which has good (though not outstanding) sound. These then-new songs aren't among his classics, but are up to the general high standard of his '60s work, with the socially conscious "The Lost Children" and the poetic "Leaves of Grass" standing out as lyrical highlights. This is the only one of Lightfoot's '60s United Artists albums that is not included on The United Artists Collection; EMI reissued it on CD in 1996. -- Richie Unterberger, All-Music Guide ******************************************** Could the EMI reissue be the CD in question? |

You beat me to it before I could correct myself. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif I was gathering some CD's for my trip and grabbed Sunday Concert and realized it was a Massey recording.
Too bad they never released any concerts from the 70's from Massey. Maybe they will... Didn't I read in an interview somewhere that they were thinking about it? |
I have Sunday Concert, and I think every thing that is available on Cd and vcr. The Cd's I'm refering to have been on ebay,{bringing in some pretty $$$$}and the Massey is supposed to be from 1974. I've been wanting to get these but have been skeptical as to origin? Is this on the up& up or what?

Iron,
The only authorized Lightfoot CD (or other recording) from Massey is SUNDAY CONCERT; as far as I know, anything else is a bootleg. |

the massey hall from 74 is a bootleg. great show though. trade for it if you can. not worth coughing up the cash for a bootleg

Iron-I have a copy of the Massey Hall if you email me we could figure out a way for you to get a copy.

I do appreciate the offer Brink, but I'm not interested in the aftermarket products.I thought that this sort of thing is not supposed to be on EBAY? I've seen them going for 30-40$ each and continuesly back on as soon as there sold. Perhaps there might be some other interested parties somewhere???

Yes, I have seen them on ebay also, I don't buy them there and I don't sell them. I have been known to trade and I have given copies to friends, but I don't get into the money thing. I really was excited about the rarities though because I have heard some of the songs in concert and then never again. I loved No Hotel.

Hey Brink...The No Hotel is really a neat song. I've heard Gordon do it 3 or 4 times and I really like the guitar work on this, now that You mentioned it,it will probably be one of my "stuck on's" before long.I can't wait for Gord's next CD,it will surelly be on it...He gets a really great response when He performs it...Just a little side note...Last year,a few of our family got together and built a log cabin back in the woods on our property, just a little get away place and kinda on the hush of the local tax collectors if you know what I mean, anyway one day while we were working on it someone said we'll have to think of a name for this place....,,and just out of the clear blue,I suggested the No Tell Motel,
as you might expect that was a thumbs up and so it was named. Iron |
I read somewhere that Gord was really surprised about how no hotel is received, I did have to look up the words though, I have trouble understanding what he sings sometimes.
I bet your cabin will be used often and will create a lot of memories for all of you who built it. How great to be able to do something like that. |
