In some 12hours I shall be heading off on the first leg of my trip to Massey.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who are going to be there. Now I just have to close the suitcase ... ;) |

I'm heading out Monday morning and haven't even started thinking about packing a suitcase. Hey Char, what's the weather like? Don't want to show up with San Diego attire if my New England wardrobe is more suitable, lol On my way out the door to drive up to LA for the John Prine concert tonight. Tomorrow it's Ramblin' Jack Elliott playing for our series and Wednesday starts four nights of Lightfoot. How can one person be so lucky to have this much great music in a seven day period?!?!? |
WED MAY 18 High 16 Low 5 Cloudy periods
THU MAY 19 High 16 Low 7 Cloudy FRI MAY 20 High 13 Low 9 Cloudy with showers SAT MAY 21 High 13 Low 9 Cloudy with showers The highs and lows are in centigrade, translated roughly as highs 55-60F, lows 45-50F. Friday and Saturday call for a 70% chance of showers (rats!)Light breezes, too. I'd suggest a light jacket and mini-umbrella just in case. The sun will be out earlier in the week and is due to reappear on Sunday. |

Bru, you used suitcase in singular form...
C'mon girl, how many suitcases and trunks will need a lift, if you ever get them closed? Just messin' with you dear, I know you need all that stuff, after all you're going to see the man. KB |
We've been having New England weather the last several days - very cool and damp/Rain right now. A windbreaker/sweater/polar fleece jacket should be good for scooting back after the shows...
I have but one suitcase...fully loaded tho! lol Bru - bring MOTRIN....ibuprofen....if you're haulin that mega suitcase around you'll need it.... ;) |

In the corfid home page list of links Florian has a link to what was a great site written by Torontonian Yuri Amatnieks
in which Yuri back in 1999 for the "Canary Yellow Canoe Tour" (actually the first Massey Hall convention) gave a plethora of useful info including maps (of Orilia and where Gordon's Walk Of Fame star is located) for first time visitors to Toronto and/or Canada. Florian's link still tries to link to the very obsolete original location at:- http://members.home.net/amatniek/lig...nov99tour.html but I recall that home.net went down the tubes eons ago and latterly Yuri had it at his later rogers.com address. A google search for Yuri's full name certainly brings up several results incuding a misleading geneology page and the original "Our Story - Cathy & Yuri Amatnieks page at":- "http://members.rogers.com/amatniek/ourstory.html" and clicking on the "cached" link produces a cached page from last October plus at the foot of the page a link that used to take you to:- "To Amatnieks-Donovan Home Page " at:- http://members.rogers.com/amatniek/index.html but clicking on either that link or the link to the "current" page produces that annoying "this page cannot be displayed error page or worse (in my case a spurious and iutetrly useless trojan calling itself "error asistant" insists on sticking its unwelcome and distinctly unhelpful nose in). So I tried the wayback machine at:- http://www.wayback.notlong.com and pasted in the old rogers.com URL as shown above this produced a choice of 11 archived pages and I chose one from 10 April 2004 which opened:- http://web.archive.org/web/200404100...niek/index.htm and there I scrolled down to a find the link to :- Gordon Lightfoot In Toronto which was at:- http://members.rogers.com/amatniek/l...rontotour.html which should therefore be archived at:- http://web.archive.org/web/200404100...rontotour.html but unhappily the wayback machine despite a further search for that exact Lightfoot page reported back 0 pages found for http://members.rogers.com/amatniek/l...rontotour.html Sorry, no matches. at first I was inclined to give up but not deterred I tried an earlier (2002) archived page and hit pay dirt except that Yuri's images including the essential maps are all anoyingly missing I have made a notlong link to the wayback archived page so try this:- http://yuri.notlong.com Oh well I will now post this on the Newsgroup which Yuri frequents to see what is up or down as the case may be!!! OK ... you jokers ... My suitcase(s)are almost closed. Anyone wanna come and sit on them for me? ;)
Yes, Char, the Motrin is packed. Would I come to Toronto minus the Motrin!?!?!? :D Dan, look forward to meeting you - and KB, we'll miss you. To the rest - see you very soon! I'm outta here! |
Everyone who's going -- give Bru a hug from me and tell her I say "hi." <sobbing> But, it's all right..., <racking sobs> don't think about me out here in Los Angeles... all alone.... no Gord.. <weeping copiously>...WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! Char, dear, please tell Gord, Barry (both of them), Terry, Mike, and Rick I say hello. WAHHHHHHHHHHHH! And that I'll see them <hiccup> in Reno in September <sniffling> It's o.k. I'll be alright now. Brink is going to kiss Gord (again) for me. Right, Brink???? (Char, tell her it's O.K. to kiss Gord.) And while we're on the subject of kissing, someone kiss Billy Boy for me, too. You guys gotta take care of him. And make sure you post your stories ASAP!! You've got people waiting on tenterhooks out here in cyber-land!! :)

double the celcius number and add it to 32. that is approx. the Fahrenheit temperature.
16 C = 64. Remember it's always windy and cooler in the downtown core with the lake and tall buildings.... to us Torontonians 64 is heavenly after a harsh long cold miserable rotten stinking snowfilled, icy winter....!!!!! |
