besides the CRT clip has anyone ever seen some of the others where gordon in 1969 talking with high school students about his work, visiting his home town and seeing what the area is like and telling stories about his childhood growing up there? or the interviw about the Black Day in July song? somebody had already mentioned that 1.
|
The one with the high school kids wouldn't play on my computer. The one of his hometown was great, I loved that his folks called him "little Gordie".
|
that 1 where he's talking to the students, it seems like there was more to the clip both beginning and end. wonder why the whole thing wasn't shown? don't know about the other and i didn't see everyone of them. it's nice the CBC has chosen to create a sections for their archives and we can see these these.

I like Gordons ultra smooth rendition of 'Saturday Clothes' sadly the picture freezes after Gordons first guitar strum.
The other clips play just fine. |
i didn't say anything about them not playing well.

i didn't even say anyone wasn't allowed to add their own thoughts and observations. i thought. well he understood what i meant.

Thanks LSH, it was merely an observation.
Today (15th) I have hit the BIG 59. Where the heck have all those years gone? |
Happy Birthday, Jim - I'm coming up right behind you in years rollin' by (53 in January). Still feel like 20, right?. Salute!
|
Hey Jim Happy Birthday! I'm at 48 and I wonder where the years went all the time.
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with peace and happiness. |
Thank you Annie & Brink. I feel pretty much as I did when I was 20, just can't run quite so fast.

youth is wasted on the young, right? Hope you are having (had? time zone thing) a splendid day! |
Mike, yes. I watched all of those months ago and have seen several since! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Not at liberty to say how but I've seen some rare and/or classic GL moments.
Like the SNL '76 appearence when he sings Summertime Dream and Spanish Moss and does the guitar string cutting gag with Belushi and I believe comedian Buck Henry (I know....before your time! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ) Also a "live" clip of him singing "My Love For You" and too many more to list. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif By the way Mike,it's not nice to critcize people for having their own thoughts and ideas. Since you are talking about the CBC archives, people are going to mention that they don't play well because,well..they just don't sometimes. For the record,it took several visits but I finally got to watch them all the way through with no freeze ups. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Definetly love the "Saturday Clothes" clip! Cool 1st moustache and he really should have just stopped at that. Just my opinion! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |
i wasn't criticizing anyone. i try not to do that. i wasn't sure if he understood my post. some of the archives, including the 69 one i mentioned seems like there was more to the the clip we didn't. see both beginning and end. at the end either the interviewer or Gordon werestill speaking when it came to an end.

yeah, I agree Mike, it seems like that clip was shortened. Maybe it was just so long that it wasn't feasible to put the whole thing in there...I don't know.
|
my understanding is they are just approved snippets and that full airing is not approved by various parties or we'd see them rebroadcast on TV (and there would be huge ratings, imo)...at the CBC museum in the lobby they loop GL playing Spin Spin, such a clean copy it's kinda depressing as to what other hi quality footage lurks in that building...i've never seen that 'students' footage before they put it on the archive site, cheers CBC (glad to see my tax dollar at work, lol)
ps) char, that 'new' CRT, colour, mint condition footage shown during the Idol montage was actually vocal lip-synch but still a wonderful GL era captured in time so very clearly...hi-definiton-like |
