Beverly Sills has died, too young, from lung cancer (she was a non-smoker.) I'm not a follower of opera but remember her well from her television appearances and was always impressed by her energy and good humor and sheer joy in doing what she did. She will be missed.

She always was so personable-her and Carol Burnett singing together always cracked me up..
she led quite a remarkable life..

Was she still alive? If so I didn't know this.

How old was miss Sills?

I usually know when celebrites are here or gone.

PBS,channel 8 KAET ran a special about her last night. Now I recall her a bit better.
Fantastic voice!

It ws 90 minutes and very touching and insightful. Makes one want to become an opera listener.

It's very sad when some of the greatest singing voices in the world get silenced.
