ELVIS 30 years gone.
Time sure goes by quickly...Click on the photo for a great Site. I wonder if Gord will mention it in his concert tonight, and then do, "Early Morning Rain" ?

Re: ELVIS 30 years gone.
It would be nice if Gord mentioned that before the song. Elvis covering an artist's song back then was like if Gordon read a (written) song of mine and wanted to record it. :)
I remember that evening in '77. My family (oddly enough, except my father) were all in the living room in San Diego, waiting for dinner to get done cooking and my Mother had on the CBS news with Harry Reasoner. He's the one who brought us that sad news. It didn't click with me completely (didn't know what it meant to "go" then) but I knew Elvis was a big deal if it was on the news. I had only heard my Mom & Dad's 45s of Elvis and that was just less than 5 years before ('72-'77). My brother is a big Elvis fan and prefers his late 60s and all 1970's recordings, likes '50s also but not as much. The next big loss was John Lennon in 1980,that one I (unfortunatly) did understand. The one thing I hope is that all of that "Elvis is alive" nonsense is over! |
Re: ELVIS 30 years gone.
Your so right Border. I myself do remember when it was announced on the radio in my car. I said to my then girlfriend, the world has lost a real treasure. Not knowing that 30 years later he would still be as popular,{Maybe even more.} A one of a kind entertainer.:)

And I can't believe somebody started the "Elvis is alive" deal, and what's worse is that people fell for it... |
