The earlier (November 2006) Jam sessions

whilst there have been countles youtube videos highlighted here by the irrepresible Jesse Joe.
he has so far failed to include three more that the arch video expert Jimbo has put together of video and still pix from the previous successful Jam session in the Delta Chelsea back in November 2006
Nor has modest lad himslf publicised his latest efforts
These are:-

  1. Which includes Ron Jones' tour de force on "Face of a Thousand People" and Melissa Joe's sublime "Heaven Help The Devil May He Have A Few Unpleasant Memories"
Derek Kidd's splendid "Mother Of A Mother's Child"and Ed Mullen's fine "Highway Songs" and ending with Kenyon and Derek's duet version of "Never Too Close" (continued on part 2)
this video is also notable for a very few short glimpses of Lori strumming away

  2. balance of Derek/Kenyon's "Never Too Close"
Ron's "I'm Not Sayin",the ensemble featuring no less than 8 guitars in unison as befits a masterpiece like "Seven Island Suite"
here are two rather fuzzy screenshotes from this video:-
    http://www.johnfowles.org.uk//LIGHTF...ember_2006.jpg
Young Kenyon (L), with Old Derek the former clearly enjoying playing Ron's Gibson B45
    http://www.johnfowles.org.uk//LIGHTF..._strangled.jpg
an itinerant guitarist trying to strangle Yuri

  3. Includes Whisper My Name, then a non Lightfoot song from Ed Mullen probably written by JohnPrine, Melissa's I'll Tag Along, Derek's In My Fashion

Great videos John I knew they were posted but couldn't find them... Charlady if you think the thread "You Tube ~gl~ Videos" does not belong in General Discussion as John stated please move it to Small Talk. I kind of would like to see your magic in action... lol :)

And that also goes for any of my threads you feel dont belong up there... :)

Err Umm I can find nowhere where I, as Omer alleges, stated that the GL videos thread does not belong in the General Discussion forum. To me that is the ideal place for it, as small talk is for items I have always understood that are "not directly related to Gordon Lightfoot".Surely therefore any thread containing any sort of discussion or display about Gordon MUST start and remain in the General Discussion Forum. So please Mistress CHarlady leave Omer's GL videos thread here and Omer pull yerself together quickly, you are obviously highly:confused::confused::confused:

oh. i agree John, it is hard to get any more Gord forum related than the vistory videos (hey, I never saw Tom this year during Massey, I figured he, John and I would be have a video geek rap at some point!)

I am pretty sure I actually did post these at some point in hype for the 2008 Massey but I think a whack of postings moved the thread down pretty quickly (not eh jessie had anything to do with that, lol) ...I have mentioned that a youtube or multimedia faves forum might be good ...many could then give headsup to a whole whack of youtube faves or cool pic recomendations without having the dial uppers cursing away, lol

anyhow, John, I will try dig out the 2001 jams and load but seems like i would have to parse them first, i cant get anything over 10 minutes to load - I do try load them at high quality (I always click on that view option) so it plays half decent but obviously not near dvd, hi res quality when folks click the full screen viewing

I wasnt even at the 2001 jams but I compiled vhs footage from budding cinematographer, char :) then digitized and used it as a non- linear editing software guinea pig project, full of lots of gaffs but tolerable to me and the content spoke for itself, a real Gord fest at chars!

jessie, here is example of what IS definitely disqualified as Gord related video (that I just did for someone) ...then again, it does have a sir harrison edward cameo in there who DOES have Gord fan DNA so maybe it does qualify. lol

...John, this is shot using 24 frames per second mode (instead of the 30 fps video look...actually, 29.97 fps) which, with some post production tweaks gives a bit of a warm 8mm home movie feel...that is pretty much become my flavour - I really miss film and do have an old film camera but blank film reel cost + developing fees are a bit over the top

note: someone dropped a thumbs up on the 2008 jam. they commented beneath the video that It was a creditable (a new word) tribute to the Man :) ...he seems to be a street drummer guy if you check his link, anyhow, glad a total stranger dug the Pub jam, neat

cheers
jj

Nice work. I'm sure the parents bless you for this effort, but the children will curse you in 6-7 years.

(In an effort to assist the merit of this in the General Discussion forum, may I suggest noting that Lightfoot's music is magical to some, and that each child is just "another patron with a smile").

thanks for the words, rm, jjo, char...didn't i tell ya I took jr and mich to Horton Hears a Who where he and I ate popcorn while she basically sobbed (gleefully) throughout it all!

hey, thanks for the jam setlist john, in a more complete version there was also Paul Bartlett singing Inspiration Lady, our fiddler gal friend (name escapes me!) and the wonderful Matt Carl crooning an Irish classic...he also played such tasty steel and acoustic licks throughout the aft:)
