After meandering through the maze that is CBC, I found it with about 40 minutes to go. It's EXCELLENT. Do take the time to give it a listen. Great insights into the mindset of Lightfoot. My "quality of thinking" has improved, although I was a bit surprised to hear that he has only recently figured out that women are too expensive.

Great Stuff.

Thanks

That's good to hear. I thought I was just being stupid, and had only found it with a lucky 'click of the mouse'.

I too had trouble figuring out where to go. Never did find it. I agree their website could use some work /Perhaps someone can download and edit the podcast for us and then post it. I'll try to find it again this evening is that 10PM Eastern? I'm in Iowa (Central Time Zone). If an easy link could be posted that would be appreciated.

Just listened to the interview, it was great. My favorite was when they asked him about the riverboat days and he replied something like " I was probably in the dressing room tuning the 12 string".

ahh, the site then parallels the building/headquarters itself

i just found an ideal window to take in this conversation in solitude...Giam did an even better job than I thought he might and it didn't hurt that Gord was in tre-candid mode

Giam has a great voice and seems so very always prepared, but this must be effortless cos he is such a true music fan...he really has hosted some great stuff thus far

a few years younger that i, but remember that he used to play in a group called the Chia pets, from my hometown (no longer a 'town') ...later i saw him open for Dylan at Massey Hall when he was with Moxy fruvous...while I was watching them that night, I never realized in retrospect, they would be the highlight of the evening...no contest

anyhow, to get back on track, Gord was full of many, many new tidbits and besides the SFAWN solo performance at Hugh's, this interview is the highlight of the year, imo ...and just surpassed the Gzowski conversation as my fave

hmm, didn't know he & Smith lived in King during 'those' years

i hang on every word when Gord 'really' talks of writing EMR, IYCRMM, Sundown, A Passing Ship, etc....superb

songs: 'they're your children, you don't like to lease them out'

heh heh...we need to get EMR merchandising dept to start on production ASAP...once word gets out, this could create a 'Cabbage Patch' type frenzy for shoppers this December

agh, didn't realize my trivia tidbit would take this vintage interview thread off track...seems to be more the norm than the exception:)

Add the SS Edmund Fitzgerald foam head hat to the merchandising list and we're talking big $$$$ ;). We can set up production in GL's manse...plenty of room . Yeah and I hadn't noticed any plants in his minimalist-decorated abode so lets fill it with Chia, yeh!

I did get to listen to the interview last night and thought Gordon did a very fine one here -down to earth, great promotion for his tours. I particularly loved the insight into his songwriting and the inspiration for EMR, etc. I love that stuff!

Talking about the contract and relationship issues related to his alcohol abuse and now so many years being sober must be difficult for him to reflect upon. A lifetime ago - but still, it's life. Something I think about often for a very dear friend of mine and witnessing his recovery as he inches closer to getting to that point where it will be a lifetime ago. I just want sooo much to see him really be happy and enjoy life, marry the girl he's with and start a family. I want him to listen to this interview -he really admires Gordon so much and perhaps may find some inspiration here.

What else, what else -well I just can't get enough of Gordon's humor hehe like how he said his doctor said he's 29 from the head up LMAO. lol and thought it was so cute that he made sure it was clear that he's straight - was the gest of that and good to know for us gals who have lousy gaydar . Looks like us po, grunt-working thrifty gals are shit out of luck though and hope he finds a really nice, practical wealthy lady . Am sure there will be flocks of gals knocking at his door after this interview!

And nice to know and we do, that he has a passion for and really enjoys performing/touring but must be crucial to keep the $$$ rolling in. Probably a months worth of touring just to heat that house of his!!!

ok so I think it's great that Gordon is really putting himself out there and in this tough economy -personally my GL concert budget is depleted and I'm wanting to keep my fico score right where it is! Trying to see if I can squeeze in one more during the summer!
