Bob Burchill & friend @ Festival of Friends - video

found this footage recently...i was laying on the grass, balancing the camera on on leg and a baby on the other...the reason i dissolve to the photos is due to the few times that the camera rolled off my thigh...enjoy... i never met a mandolin i didn't like

Loved it!
Mandolins have such a sorrowful sound. Bob's got a great voice.

I see jj (aka Mr. Modest) has more tricks in his bag.

That's a masterful piece of editing, and most enjoyable.

Does anyone happen to know the name of the person who frequently makes a cameo appearance in these personal videos ? They walk by with only their derriere visible.

That was an excellent performance. Beautiful country too. I wish I could hear more of Gord's music played down here. I guess I'm just getting old. Still, his work is timeless...

i think that once really suited his vocal, i liked his phrasing...mando really suits it also, as char described

the mando arrangement for some of the other tunes played was at times also interesting...EMR, for loving me, CRT, rainy day people (oh, it worked quite well there), DQ, SFAWN, alberta bound (big sing along version)

i was not intending to tape and only had the old cam with me cos it was a 'new' family outing and that usually means there's usually some sort of digital recording device present...i couldnt even see the last skool play cos there were so many parents standing up taking vids or pics, insane

anyhow, i had that camera mostly positioned under my ball cap on my legs cos i wasn't sure if there would be Massey like camera police there...I dont think Bob really would care...i sent him a note telling of my posting this, no word back yet but i'm sure he'd be please with the kinds words

lastly...regarding the derriere and cut away comments:
when anyone may have viewed the Massey gathering jams videos from 2006 or 2008, they may have wondered why i would cut away to photos at certain odd points (ie. just as a key moment in the song or solo arrives)...those cutaways are not by choice but necessity due to many butts passing (no pun) in way of the lens and often staying put there until i subtely cough, ahem

once i was set up enroute to the Delta suite washroom and the other was at back of the pub where patrons came and went so it was really my bad location choice at fault, not all the derriere owners

in this case, rm, you might notice that person had a camera on strap around their shoulder...they actually walked in front on my lawn perch and set up right in front of me for the next tune and that's when i just decided to put mine away and just enjoy the rest of the show with jr...ok, no one really asked but that is the long answer...

At the Hamilton event there was a woman who kept coming from behind me and then standing in front of me (and others) taking pics even tho she was fully aware that I had set my chair in a spot that had a clear view and I had a camera. I poked her a few times and told her to move. After about three times I gave her a 'look' and she got lost.
I'd have had your back JJ..lol

Did you use the Lightfoot "look" ? It's scary.

Re: Bob Burchill & friend @ Festival of Friends - video

yep - that'd be a similar one.
altho the Lightfoot look is more of a perplexed look than a 'you better knock it off if you know what's good for you' look that I have..
lol
ask my daughter and the daycare kids I have about my 'look'...The automatic response is "Char's NOT happy"..
Things change pretty quickly after that.
