Basically the procedure is precisely the same as for displaying any other image here, which was made really elementary by Florian's use of the revised bulletin board which has the benefit of the most useful "cheat box" control (editing) panel immediately above the text entry box. OK Yer Tis

My reason for that gruesome choice was simply that I was mindful of the "pogrom" by Les Quebecois in the 1960's to keep their ancient version of French unsullied by Angloisms and grammatical errors I was afraid that I had offended the Moncton agent of the French Language Police.hat pogrom?? Well in Montreal were such absurdities as this seen at Dorval Airport "Hilton Hotel L'Aeroport Interntionale de Montreal International Airport" where obviously the powers that be considered that the locals were too thick to do that simple translation themselves or had insufficent imagination to let them make a wild guess!! This is the reason why all across Canada "STOP" signs are bilingual http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thum...sign-arret.jpg I believe this is to keep the Quebecois happy and so avoid separation I did find this Canadian alternative stop sign however http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._stop_sign.jpg Stop sign at Kahnawake, Canada in English and Mohawk language. And here is another Canadian Indian stop sign this time in La Belle Province http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFO...uebec_cree.jpg During our August visit to France I was able to confirm that the original French are rather more capable as all their stop signs are un tres simple monolingual "stop" . Likewise I was astounded whilst on a skiing trip to Bulgaria in the late 1980's to find that, even though their (Cyrillic) alphabet is entirely different and most confusing since similar letters to Roman are different thus an "s" in Cyrillic is actually "c" and to a vulgar Bulgar stop is СТОП yet their Stop signs also purely say "Stop'!! I have not however yet searched for any statistics to show whether this causes more vehicle accidents in France and Bulgaria because drivers are preoccupied translating!! Finally I have for a long time been fascinated by the subject of animated gifs and here is one of the best I have seen a true minivideo in only 228.350 bytes http://bestanimations.com/Military/P...et-03-june.gif I had previously thought that that was a crash by a Russian aircraft at RAF Fairford but no here is an actual video of that spectacular incident My guess is that the gif creator selected suitable frames from the original full black and white video and used an animated gif creation program to create his minivideo I would love to try to make one of Gord's head shake to surpass the famous wink http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/glwink.gif |

drum roll please..... well, I got it to take as an "image Upload" but I'm lost at step 11 there John! I'm not seeing the control panel as you described. |
Re: Smileys
Here, let me try this again
http://forum.mininova.org/style_emot...hit%20Flag.gif Nope, it's not happening!!! dang. I get the hyper-link, but not the much-desired direct placement of the gif. |
Re: Smileys
Peter Bro10,
It looks like you're using the hyperlink option, rather than the "insert image" option. Place your cursor over the different control panel options, and then read the description that shows up. There are 2 versions of the control panel : 1) Quick reply or by scrolling below the text box, 2) Go Advanced (more options and the chance to preview your post) I always use the Go Advanced so I can check for inanity before I post. |
