Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
In June, I ordered tickets for the Sept.22 Lightfoot show at the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee. My friend and I had seen him there in '07, prompting me to write about it for our local paper. And that's how I first became acquainted with Char, Corfid, and all of you.
In August, I received a summons for jury duty. I was scheduled to serve for five days in September. And of course, one of those days is Sept.22. So far, I haven't had to go in on any of my required days, as apparently a lot of cases settle prior to their trial dates. I'm hoping this trend continues, but it's very possible that I will need to be in court all day on Thursday, and then have to drive 2 hours to Milwaukee through rush hour and road construction to get to the show on time. After watching years of endless reruns of Law & Order, I have been curious about what jury selection and trials are really like. I just wish the timing were a little different. But I might get a good story out of this... |
Re: Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
You should have written them a letter and told them it would be impossible to do it that week. Please change it to another week.
Happend to me a few times and the court was more than obliging. |
Re: Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
Wes,
I probably should have tried that. The summons said people with a "temporary hardship" could petition to be switched to a different month. My thinking was that I should just go ahead and fulfill my obligation and hope for the best. In retrospect, that may not have been the wisest thing. |
Re: Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
Good luck to you... Hope you get to see him and give us a good report.

I'm sure it will work out somehow, and I will be able to get to the show and post a report.
Hopefully that will get me back in good standing with the moderator. :) |
Re: Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
From what I've been told, some judges just aren't real understanding about some things though.

Re: Lightfoot v. Outagamie County
During voir dire this morning, I was excused from the jury panel, and thus not selected to be one of the jurors hearing the trial. Game on!!!
