Discovery Channel has a new series, "Great Lakes Warriors," where the ships and crews work in the Great Lakes. They featured "Wreck.." in the last episode and credited GL.

America's worst maritime disaster must be the General Slocum, sinking on June 15,1904 approaching New York with immigrants.. My 2009 World Almanac says 1021 souls perished.There were worse maritime disasters happening later to other countries, such as two horrific sinkings of ships carrying German refugees in 1945, which each had a loss of 7000 or so.
