What If...?

What if Red Shea had continued for many more years as GL's lead guitar player? Do you think there would have been much, if any, change in the songs he would write?

Did Terry's guitar playing style (flat picking as opposed to Red's 3 finger style) move Gordon into a more "adult/contemporary" direction?

I'd be interested in your thoughts.

How would that have had any effect on Gord's song writing?

To be sure in many ways because Red's guitar breaks were quite different to Terry's. A prime example think of Gord writing the Fitz and imagining how Terry could set the mood so wonderfully dirge like as no doubt Gord would have intended to capture the original Irish dirge's ambience begorrah!!

Although I think Red Shea was a great guitar player, the finger style is too "busy" for me. I think TC's style was appropriate for Gord's songs. And although I think CL is a magnificent player as well, I still prefer TC for the same reason. This opinion from one who is a very poor player.
