No offense kid but, why the animosity toward old Bob?.. He showed up, it was storming, he probably weighed everything up, realizing it was Gord's gig, and figured not to enter the fray of the chaos etc..
(and it probably was (from your description anyway; lightning pummeling down on the surrounding area?..) actually pretty dangerous out there)..
Also, it's old Bob that's been out there on the never-ending tour for 20 years running now..
I for one, (dig about it being "about the fans" etc.) think he prob'ly gets what its about..
etc..
