Did You really know how well known Gordon
Lightfoot is world wide? I don't think I did
until this past weekend. As some of you
know, I am a disc jockey who performs at events such as weddings, staff parties, and
charitable events. On Friday, I did a non
profit function hosted by a small group of
prominent women from around the globe who's
mission it is to raise awareness for the
importance of the arts in schools. Half
way through the dance, a very nice lady from
a country in Africa, I'm sorry, I don't
remember which country she was from, asked me
to play a song. The theme was world music,
and I was playing all kinds of stuff including reggae, latino, steel drum, Irish
music, modern top 40, etc. She told me she had heard music from almost every country
except Canada( I am in Ottawa, Canada).
I asked her what she would like to hear,
dreading what she would say. Would it be
Shania Twain...aaaaahhhhhh!?!?!, Celine Dion
....aaahhhhhhhhh!?!?!?, Bryan Adams, well,
that wouldn't be so bad. But no, it turned
out she had taste(she is a music professor).
She said play something really "Canadiana".
she asked for Gordon Lightfoot. I played
"If you could read my mind" and "Circle is
small" back to back, and they were a great success. She thanked me and I replied,
"no, thank you".

Sorry for the long story, I just thought
it may make some of you Lightheads out there
feel good!

Later
