AWESOME Show last night!!!!!! 3 hours and well worth it!
I'll get right to it!
Prince opened the show with "Let's Go Crazy" which segued into "Sign O' The Times" and then he launched into "Kiss". Inducted by Alicia Keyes & Outkast.
Traffic was inducted by Dave Matthews and at the same time they showed them playing,"Mr. Fantasy" at the pre-taped event.
The Dells (I believe) were next and samg Oh What A Night" and were inducted by Robert Townsend (the comedian/filmaker & star of "The Parent Hood".) He was chosen bacuse his film "The 5 Heartbeats" was really about The Dells. The group,by the way,has been together for 50 years with the exact same line-up!
Next was Jackson Browne inducted by "The Boss". Jackson sang "The Pretender" & Running On Empty.
Then Bob Seger was inducted by Kid Rock (because they're both from Detroit.) Seger (age 58) sang "Old Time Rock & Roll" & "Turn The Page".
"K. Rock" said of Seger,"He's the most under-appreciated singer & songwriter in the business and (to paraphrase) should have been in th Hall of Fame 10 years ago!" "He's also paid more dues than 1/2 the artists on today's charts!" (First thing he's ever said that I agree with!
)
ZZ Top (for whatever reason) were inducted By Keith Richards. (Another deep serious moment from him
) ZZ Top did "La Grange" & "Tush".
Lastly,(but certainly not least) George Harrison was inducted by Tom Petty and also Jeff Lynne. Joined by Harrison's son they played "Handle With Care" by their group The Traveling Wilburys. Then they got into,"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Prince playing a fantastic guitar solo that vitually matched the original!
The closing all-star number was Traffic's,"Feelin' Alright!" The best Hall Of Fame show since 1999,as far as I'm concerened!
