Anybody who has been following my attempts to make it easy for punters here wishing to display pictures that are not already on a web site somewhere and therefore require somewhere to upload their pictures to but who do not yet have their own web site to upload to and then link to should take note of this topic please
I happen to have taken out a subscription to a useful UK magazine called

which is issued every fortnight (for Americans "fortnight"=fourteen nights=two weeks just as "senight=seven nights=1 week). In the latest issue that I received yesterday was a recommendation to use
http://www.imageshack.us/
for free hosting of digital pictures:- it entails registering and waiting for an emailed activation link to arrive. but their blurb says:-
ImageShack® uses a highly reliable dedicated Linux server
network to provide its digital content hosting service!
Please see the Common Questions for details.
Make sure to read the Terms of Service.
image types allowed: jpeg jpg png gif bmp tif tiff swf
maximum image size: 1024 kilobytes
the magazine contributor who made the recommendation said "You can upload an unlimited number of files up to 1 MB each.If the files are large enough a thumnbnail is automatically created
-------------------------
It features an easy to use browse facility.
So select the picture to upload
then click a "host it' button to upload then wait then go to "my images"
I uploaded this pic of the Lightfoot Tribute Band band

Oops I had to replace the my originally uploaded picture which was way too big an image. I must research and write the very necessary tutorial on suitable picture sizing for corfid display purposes and how to resize
before uploading!!
You can also if you have a mind to upload "zipped" images. But I have as yet no clue how that works or why one might want to use it.
anyway I made a screenshot of the display showing my uploaded picture and a selection of links including the UBB code to display here
and found in my images this display:-
imageshack typical screenshot:-
Note that it provided both a "hotlink" which links to their site by clicking the picture:-

from which I extracted the UBB code for the picture only:-
