HOLD the phone I'm callin' my attorney -
the reference to chicken in this song, to the enlightened..ahemm... is that allegorically metaphorically in a neo-pseudo-crypto-fascist analogy of dread of nuclear war is that he is "chicken", as in afraid - not food, the listenener that Lightfoot puts in neo-protagonist role is being asked of themselves....
I Challenge Ron...
I am not happy about this.... we are allready spiralling out of control OMG where's the phone o o OH... lol lol lol... O I am only kidding bro... had to pull it once.... -revenge for all the heckling from ya
RON....
oh I am so only kidding.....-sigh-
Actually, I have truly (embarrassed to say) thought when I was younger he DID mean chicken as in scared, then when it hit me as he meant like KFC chicken to go, I felt REAL stupid...(NO comments on that lol).. good call Ron...
I have always loved that song.... and that is one of the most HUMAN words in the lyrics...really... it grounds you for a second he lives in the real world too...

Lightfoot picking up Chicken-to-go at KFC - and saying to the kid at the pay window "
ya know... I wrote a song about this, that is a favourite of audiophiles (really) on the 1/2 speed masters series of Sundown, did you know that , ma'am (
to the lady taking money, who signals to the boss and puts her hand by the red button under the counter, pensively wondering where this guy is going with this...ooh boy..wrote a song about chicken, eh ? OK...talk him through it nice and easy, and it'll go OK... lol)
Poor guy - can you imagine Lightfoot in real-life everyday situations coming across things from his songs, and no doubt trying, out of humility, to NOT comment on his poignant lyrics or braggadosio on his fame and fortune and...work...artistry..pertaining to the moment - great ice breakers...but if they don't know him.... could be funny.. poor guy..
All in fun... great post
Oh,Linda! I will try one....
'tseeer (I did not explain that word to you
Oh,Linda,
my daughter, who is now 26,
made up that imaginary phonetic contraction at AGE 3 or so 'tseeer contracting- conflating she was saying allready - and
stemming - long before the Lightfoot corfid controversy over stemming and
Navvy, even before alt.music.Lightfoot... it means ('tseeer) =
Let's see here - when she was two or three....
still in underGrad work...
but it fit in her thesis option...for the x-fer FWD to PhD option....lol....when she got her Doctorate in Comparitive Literature in Medieval English age 10...she slowed down a lot...those hopcotch sessions got to be obsessive INSTEAD of STUDYING...I'd let her go to sleep by 2am - whats the big deal ?
- anyway - her doctorate with an emphasis in punctuation cryptography for the time period...they are still currently translating dots and dits and quotes, and ... stuff like that.... for post-doc stipend funded
by DowChemical again Char lol.... oh Mamie got her PhD when she was 12.... OK 'nuff joking. I'm punchy tired from all the ten over in Basic inedible Lyrics 201....lol... great idea here. lemee see..'tseeer:lyrics, title, credit..OK....
now 'bout the liquid route:
Much more fluid lyrics...
Lyrics: -groan-
The train that I'm on is a hundred boxcars long
So I don't sleep through to the morning
That's some chilly wind in this gondola I'm in
I wish I had a glass of beer

OK on them
Apples ?
oh oh oh:
that reminds me of another song I love, funny I know a lot of people find it tedious or unappealing (PEELING APPLES LOL ...--sigh- OK...), but the imagery towards the end is very redeeming - I love it:
Lyrics:
Songs of the season,
apples of the sun
There is no rhyme or reason, just a time for each and every one
Song Title: 'A Lesson in Love'
~gl
-
allthough, with
apples (little green
apples in the summertime -
another song...Glen Campbell (sings it)?
Anyway - with regard to the very straightforward rules, this I think may violate the context de rigeur of food per se, maybe its illustrative further of what does not qualify ? I'm not sure... Oh,Linda ?
(can we call you Linda ? - easier for my two finger hunt and slip) lol... ?? ruling ?
Great Game Oh,Linda . I'll bet there are a bunch......o dem appose (
as Mamie used to say around 3 -4 appose plural......
lol
Thanks for thinking up this thread Linda, I get to play too !
