Oh, I thought of one, if it's still in print and you haven't read it already...since Claire was from China, you might like reading Across China by Peter Jenkins. It was a book my dad gave me a long time ago. I had read one of Peter Jenkins' other books before that called A Walk Across America. That was good, but I liked reading the one about China even better.
