Our new year in south-eastern Australia is off to a hot start. Melbourne had 37degC (99degF) on Jan3 and the next four days are expecting 41degC (106degF), 27degC, 31degC and 38degC(100degF). Some towns a few hours north-west of Melbourne are expecting 44degC (111degF) twice this week.
