Well, it IS surprising for Melbourne, because we average 1-and-a-half days per year with 40degC (104degF) or above.

However, Tuesday was 42.8C (109F), followed by an overnight low of 28.6C (83F), and the next three days are expecting 41C (106F), 41C (106F) and 42C (108F).

It was hard on Bernard Tomic getting booed by a few people when he retired injured against Rafael Nadal, but I guess they were voicing their frustration at his past record of taking his opportunities for granted.
