I believe he would be a liberal. He did very well by the policies of a liberal Liberal government during the 70s in Canada (regulations that made playing Canadian artists a priority on radio) as well as things like his stand on the environment and some other things too that I don't want to mention for fear of getting into political arguments.

(For those of you not from Canada and who may not know, the Liberal Party is similar to the Democratic Party in the U.S. and the Conservative Party is more along the lines of the Republican Party.)
