The evening was fantastic. And I am not saying that because it was at my house and my party! The opening act (Cathy and Derek) were superb and we did record them. If you download the songs and listen to them, you'll hear what a great setup we had (and my son gets 5 stars as our recording engineer). You will also hear how great Cathy and Derek are - if you don't already know. Remember, they, like the rest of us, would never have met had it not been for the internet.

You can download their recordings from this web page:

We didn't ask David if we could record because certain people (who shall be nameless) said that he would never permit it. Well, it turned out that he was disappointed that we had not! We would have had to know ahead of time in order to set up the equipment to do so. We recorded on a PC, using our own mixer. His sound man (and bass player) was using their mixer. So we couldn't really change things on the fly and since the bass player was also doing the mixing, he couldn't very well get up and walk over to our PC.

Anyhow, it was a really wonderful evening. David and his bass player were great; they are accomplished musicians and very nice people. I'm sure that David Mallett has a lot of new fans now. We bought out all the CDs he had brought!

And my husband's cooking got 5 stars from most of the guests.

We have another get-together planned for April. Cathy, Derek and Ed will be doing a Singer/Songwriter tribute at Caffe Lena on April 25th (Friday). There will be another party the next night.
