The one thing I can say that the Bee Gees did that Gord, thankfully, never did was get maudlin and depressing in his songs. The Last Time I Saw Her comes close but never crosses the line between sad and down-right depression and self-pity. The Bee Gees on the other hand, recorded an abysmal song called,"First Of May". This song makes me want to listen to Season's In The Sun (and I hate that song!) The lyrics are about how one time they were all children and happy but now they're grown and something about Christmas trees that were tall, now are small. Then there's that depressing line about,"Don't ask me why,the time has passed us by." Good grief! A lament to growing up? I admit, leaving childhood isn't easy but it's not worth a self-pitying ballad like this. Man! I love the Bee Gees music, but that hit is not among them. Yuck!

(Forgive me Maurice,wherever you are.)
