This is a long shot, but I'm trying to get in touch with a very special person I knew briefly at the University of Kansas, in 1986. I moved away to Miami and didn't see him again, but he wrote me a few times, and mailed me a cassette tape with Salute, Don Quixote, and some of Shadows on it. That tape opened up a whole new world of Lightfoot for me: Knotty Pine, Whispers of the North, Tatoo, Ordinary Man, Susan's floor, Christian Island, One more cup of coffee...to many great ones to list. All I had heard before that was my sister's old Sundown album, which was great, but I had no idea there was so much more. If John hadn't generously sent me that tape, completely on his own initiative, I may never have heard all those great songs and may never have explored GL's music further. I'd like to think I would have, but who knows?
So...John, if you're out there, visiting this website, I want you to know how grateful I am to you. I'm not sure of your last name. Was it John White? You lived in Eastern Kansas, possibly Shawnee, possibly on a farm. My name was(is) Simone, and we met through a campus church group. Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you, for bringing more Gord into my life!!!!!
