i hope you all don't mind that i posted these lyrics here. normally i would never do such a thing.

i've been influenced by GL since Hector was a pup. actually four musicians have caused my branches to bend. Lightfoot, Dylan, Prine and Doc Watson.

in writing lyrics, though, GL has been most pervasive. i wrote this a couple of years ago.

i wrote this after listening to Sea Of Tanquility. it's nearly the same rhythm. so think Tranquility

---

Firefly Jars

[v1]
shimmering lights dance all through the night
gathering eyes glance 'round at the sight
clans of june bugs dressed for the affair
and little boy beetles sing in the cool air

[a little terry clements here]

[v2]
stars are the gentry, her moon-ness the queen
black bears play sentry by the old mossy stream
silver toe'd frogs with croaking's of glee
splashing in bogs, on a summer's night spree

[bridge]
fireflies flickering
crickets are clickering
dreams from the dreamery
capture your heart

[chorus]
so fill up your jars with firefly stars
giggles and laughter found in yer back yards
lighting your play in a firefly way
take care of your fireflies ever-ree-day

[pee wee takes over]

[v3]
snakeling's and dark things hide deep in the woods
slither 'round bark where old trees once stood
snails with hard shells on their back slide along
and ring flower bells with a summer's night song

[bridge]
fireflies flickering
crickets are clickering
dreams from the dreamery
capture your heart

[chorus]
so fill up your jars with firefly stars
giggles and laughter found in yer back yards
lighting your play in a firefly way
take care of your fireflies ever-ree-day

[v4]
now dream little children never mind what is said
for the riddles of nighttime will sleep in your head
and if they should waken and carry you far
be sure you have taken your firefly jar

[musical interlude][break]

[bridge]
fireflies flickering
crickets are clickering
dreams from the dreamery
capture your heart

[chorus]
so fill up your jars with firefly stars
giggles and laughter found in yer back yards
lighting your play in a firefly way
take care of your fireflies ever-ree-day

Ambrose: Not bad, not bad at all! I'd be sure and stick a copywrite on anything that I posted online. You never know when you may click on the radio and hear something you wrote singing back at you, otherwise!

Hector was a pup, I love that! You did very well Ambrose, I like what you wrote and agree with SUIM about the copywrite. I just don't have the imagination to write like that, thanks for posting it.

I am as critical as anyone about these things. I was not able to find fault with what you wrote. I think you have ability that needs to be channeled and allowed to flourish. You should put a book of poetry
together and try to submit something to the Readers Digest. I wouldn't give away your work if I were you.

We dropped our daughter off at Girl Scout camp yesterday and I was thinking this would make good background music. Very nice.

Nice. Funny though, I had a better time thinking "Waiting For You" than I did "Sea Of Tranquility".
